Electric vehicles (EVs) are no longer a distant concept; they are rapidly becoming integrated into our daily lives. With the deterioration of the global environment, the demand for EVs is growing rapidly. Therefore, efficient and reliable EV charging solutions are becoming increasingly important. A 60kW EV charger is one such solution. In this article, I will provide you with a comprehensive overview of this powerful charging solution, including its concept, principles, and advantages.

60KW EV Charger

What is a 60kW EV Charger?

First, EV charging stations provide electrical energy to EVs, just as gas stations provide fuel to traditional cars. These charging stations can be installed in various locations, including residential areas, commercial properties, and highway service areas. The recommended charging power varies depending on the scenario. For example, the 60kW EV charger is typically used in commercial applications.

Electric Vehicle Charger Classification

There are three main types: Level 1 chargers, Level 2 chargers, and DC fast chargers.

1. Level 1 EV Chargers: These chargers have the slowest charging speed. The power output of this AC charging method ranges from approximately 1 kW to 2 kW. The biggest advantage is that no installation is required; it can charge anywhere with a standard outlet. For some large-battery electric vehicles, it may take more than 40 hours to fully charge.

2. Level 2 EV Chargers: These chargers charge much faster, 5 to 10 times faster than Level 1 chargers. Charging power ranges from 4 kW to 20 kW. A full charge takes approximately 5 to 10 hours. They can be used in slow charging stations or installed at home to speed up charging.

3. DC Fast EV Chargers: Also known as Level 3 EV chargers. These chargers have the fastest charging speed, capable of charging a home electric vehicle to 80% in just 20-30 minutes. Currently, DC fast chargers on the market typically range in power from 50 kW to 350 kW. The 60 kW EV charger falls into this category. Because higher charging power means higher equipment prices, a 60 kW dual-plug charger is an excellent choice for those just entering the industry.
